Chemicals
In the production of chemical and petrochemical compounds, a color change indicates a chemical reaction or a change in one of the reaction components has occurred. Color changes because of a myriad of reasons, including a change in the pH of the solution, either an oxidation-reduction or an acid-base reaction, precipitate formation, conformation changes, light emission, or simply because two distinctive colors were mixed.
The ability to detect color changes is critical in the production process because it helps determine when a change rate and state of the chemical reaction has occurred. It also helps identify the chemical composition and the presence of contaminants and impurities.
From transparent to translucent to opaque chemicals, the EquiSpec IPS can monitor changes in chemical reactions by monitoring in-line and real-time changes in the ultraviolet and visible regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
